…in 1718, hundreds of French colonists arrived from across the Atlantic to Louisiana, where some became permanent settlers in present-day New Orleans.

… in 1830, a famous race between a horse-drawn carriage and a steam locomotive nicknamed “Tom Thumb” was ran. Interestingly, the early train has engine trouble and the sturdy horse wins.

… in 1944, the Allied forces in World War II liberated Paris.

… in 1998, a survey found that only 1/3 of Americans used the Internet.
